Our third day started with us packing all our things so we could head towards our next B&B over in County Kerry-town of Tralee.
First things first...I had to back out of a tight spot in the B&B parking lot since one of the guests parked inches away from me! I was working my way out of it when our host came outside and motioned for me to pull back up. He then guided me as I backed out again. When I finished my last 3-point turn, he said he'd give me 8 out 10 stars for that maneuver. LOL!
Once we were headed down the road we had to make a pit stop at Pandora in Kilkenny. And Cindy's shoes got wet so she needed some dry ones. Once that was done, we headed to our next stop--but with some stops along the way.
First we went to the Rock of Cashel in County Tipperary. It was a rainy, blustery day and we definitely needed a rain jacket. The wind just made mincemeat out of our umbrellas...
As we were walking towards the castle, we spotted a good old-timey phone booth that was actually in operating condition. We never see them in the States anymore, so we decided to take some pictures of it!
Jess said the locals must have thought we were whack-a-doos .
We took a guided tour of The Rock of Cashel. The inside of the one restored building was more like a medieval castle/church than Kilkenny Castle was. It was pretty cool, but so-oo wet and miserably blustery winds.
So Sam and I left the tour early and went for a cup of hot coffee in the closest pub we could find!
It was so good!
After that we headed to our next B&B. It took much longer than I expected...Cindy was trying to navigate us to an old Abby that was in ruin--but we kept getting turned around!
We saw this woman walking her dogs and asked for directions. She was so nice and proceeded to give Cindy a history lesson on the building we found by accident.
Along the way we got behind this HUGE hay truck driving way too slow, but we were stuck behind him because there was no room to pass.
Anyway...we were using our rental GPS and somehow it took us down this "unnamed" road that was ridiculously narrow. There was no way we could pass another car. The hedges were scraping both sides of the car!
When we finally got to the end of the road, we were coming up to the stop sign when --NO-O-O! Here comes that same hay truck turning onto the road we were on! We had to drive the car into the hedges-literally-to make room for the truck. The girls were all cringing in their seats.
Eventually we made it to our B&B late--10:30 just as the sun was going down. The place is beautiful, but we are all exhausted!!😔
