Well it is 1:32 am Irish time and since I can't sleep because my mind is processing our busy day I figured I'd better write a blog entry. First of all, Sam and I were so tired from not sleeping for 36 hrs we slept very soundly and never even tossed and turned once. That never happens! Mom woke us up at 8:56 and we were supposed to be at breakfast by 9...oops! We were a little bit later to say the least. Our hostess then served breakfast where I enjoyed my first full Irish breakfast. Man was that some delicious food! Everything tasted so fresh! I've never had sausage that tender before. Can't wait for tomorrow's meal:-)

Then, groggily Sam and I snuck back to our beds because we were still pretty beat after being woken up suddenly...I hate when I wake up in the middle of a dream! Mom came in to see what was taking so long and got us to get out of bed again lol...isn't it funny how things sometimes go back to the way they were? Sam and I not getting out of bed and mom having to bug us...old times...lol...here we are ready but groggy.

Of course, it was raining today. No surprise...it's Ireland, after all. Our first stop was Kilkenny Castle. What a beautiful place! I seriously love this stuff! I thoroughly enjoy seeing when places like this are restored to their former glory and learning about the people who lived there. They wouldn't let us take pics inside, though, which is why there's only an exterior shot. What I really wanted to do was slide down that big wide banister lol!

Afterwards, we went walking. Mom and Aunt Cindy wanted to go see a couple old churches so we started getting our Fitbit steps in...lol! On our travels we see the funniest thing in Ireland..of course my daughter would think so anyway. It was this gag gift in the window of a shop. I am sure she will get a kick out of it. So I HAD to take a pic...

Not sure which church this is..maybe Mom will have to come back and edit this entry lol. It's quite magnificent though! (Saint Mary's Cathedral, Jess)

Irish streets are so much more interesting (and clean) than Philly...

Found a really cool mural!
We made it to Black Abbey! And then went to Saint Canices Abbey. This is Saint Canices. The tower, unfortunately was closed due to the rain.

Next we headed to the ruins of Kells Priory..see all those sheep? Yeah, we had to walk through a minefield of sheep poop to get there! It was not easy to come out clean...

Can you tell Mom was beat?

Here we have the other set of sisters:-)

Next we made our way back to Kilkenney for lunch/dinner and ended up at Lanigan's Bar.

I ordered my first ever beer..a Smithwicks...pronounced more like Smitticks. It was......beer...lol. Next time I will probably get what Aunt Cindy ordered...a hard cider.
From another non-beer drinkers viewpoint....mine....Irish beer is MUCH smoother and richer than American beer. It's about the only time I drink beer. lol (Louise)

For dinner I enjoyed traditional fish and chips. Mom got shepherds pie, Aunt Cindy got Irish Stew and Sam got something Indian with curry. We were not disappointed! Everything was amazing and of course we all had to try each other's food.

Aunt Cindy loved her beer glass so much she asked if she could keep it and the waiter said she had to hide it lol...so he gave a little wink as we 'snuck' out.

Little did the tattoo guy know that when we called asking for a tattoo he'd have 5 tattoos to do! After that we went across the street to the coolest bar I have EVER been in! They say it's haunted and we had drinks down where the cellar must've been. I'm not sure what it was before but that building was amazing!

Overall, we had a busy and fun day! However, I am tapped out...where's the ATM?
